Come Along to the PACC Members' Exhibition!
Located within the historic Poldrate Granary and Mill in the charming town of Haddington, the Poldrate Arts & Crafts Centre stands as a beacon of creativity and artistic expression in East Lothian. As a registered Scottish Incorporated Charitable Organisation, its core mission is to promote, encourage, and nurture the study, practice, and knowledge of visual arts and crafts within the community.
The Centre offers a diverse range of classes tailored to accommodate individuals of all abilities and experience levels. These classes are structured into three terms, each spanning around ten weeks, providing ample opportunities for artistic growth and exploration throughout the year.
For those seeking a more informal and collaborative approach, Poldrate Arts & Crafts Centre extends a warm invitation to join their self-help groups. Within these gatherings, like-minded craft enthusiasts come together to pursue their chosen crafts without formal tutoring. It's an ideal environment to immerse oneself in creativity while connecting with fellow artisans. Although there is no official tutor, a friendly volunteer is present to assist with any necessary registration details.
The Poldrate Granary houses studios across its three floors, each dedicated to specific artistic domains. On the ground floor, a vibrant wood working and kiln glass studio thrive, providing a sanctuary for craftsmen to shape their wooden wonders and create mesmerising glass art. Ascending to the first floor, one encounters the captivating world of Clay Portraiture and other crafts, capturing the essence of form and beauty. The third floor primarily serves as a painting and printing studio, but its flexible nature welcomes a myriad of creative endeavours. Moreover, the Centre prides itself on being accessible to all, with wheelchair-friendly spaces on every floor, including a disabled toilet.
The Mill at Poldrate also contributes to the artistic haven, boasting a pottery facility on the ground floor and textile crafts such as spinning and weaving on the first floor. For enthusiasts of Upholstery and Basket making, the second floor presents a dedicated space for honing their skills. While the ground floor is wheelchair accessible, regrettably, the first and second floors remain inaccessible.
Behind the flourishing of the Poldrate Arts & Crafts Centre stands the unwavering support of the Lamp of Lothian Trust. Our organisation provides the space of the Poldrate Granary and Mill, enabling the Centre to fulfil its mission and offer a welcoming place for individuals to gather, learn, and share their passion for the arts and crafts.
In essence, the Lamp of Lothian Trust and the Poldrate Arts & Crafts Centre serve as a dynamic duo, igniting creative sparks and illuminating the path to artistic enrichment for all in East Lothian. Whether one seeks to refine existing skills, engage in new crafts, or simply immerse themselves in a vibrant artistic community, the Centre warmly embraces everyone, fostering a haven where the joy of creation knows no bounds.
