We provide facilities that enable the community to thrive
Our Vision
Like all charities, the Lamp is constantly striving to raise money and is dependent upon grants and the generosity of benefactors. We aim to change lives by providing opportunities for the whole community to get together, learn new skills, develop talents and improve health and well-being.
Community Spaces
The Lamp of Lothian Trust maintains a group of listed buildings called the Elizabeth Hamilton buildings at the south end of Haddington, which it makes available to the community at little or no cost for the widest variety of cultural, artistic and social uses.
Classes & Workshops
We work in partnership with residents, community organisations and local authorities to create bespoke community events, projects and facilities for the benefit of the whole community.
Active Life Activities for all ages
Located at the Bridge Centre, we support all forms of active, healthy lifestyles, with classes that provide positivity in people’s lives.

The Lamp of Lothian Trust has had a long tradition of promoting and supporting an annual series of concerts, including the birth of the Lammermuir Festival. We also support Haddington Garden Trust, to preserve gardens for the enjoyment of the public, and to encourage the study of gardening itself.
