Art & Music is part of the Lamp

Enabling the community to thrive

Arts & Culture have always been part of the Lamp

The Duchess worked with world famous, local composer Gian Carlo Menotti to bring concerts to Haddington. Yehudi Menuhin was one of the early performers. Over the years the Lamp has staged many wonderful concerts at St. Mary’s. The Lamp successfully incubated the well-known Lammermuir Festival bringing the finest musicians together with local people and visitors in some of our surrounding towns and villages' most beautiful locations and buildings.

Lammermuir Festival

The Lammermuir Festival was born of a conviction that historic architecture and beautiful landscape together can create an ideal environment in which to experience great music making. The Festival was established by James Stretton, MBE,  a trustee of the Lamp. The Festival was established to bring the finest musicians together with local people and visitors. Beautiful music in beautiful places. The Lammermuir Festival is a separate organisation from the Lamp of Lothian.  For those wishing to support it and find out more, please follow the link below.

What You're Saying

Lamp of Lothian has hosted The Haddington Bridge Centre for over six decades, providing a much needed educational facility for all to use. This allows us to offer a wide range of activities including the Motorcycle Project, music, exercise, dance, adult learning, children's' activities, youth clubs and U3A to name a few. We look forward to continuing this great relationship long into the future.
