Art & Music is part of the Lamp

Enabling the community to thrive

Arts & Culture have always been part of the Lamp

The Duchess worked with world famous, local composer Gian Carlo Menotti to bring concerts to Haddington. Yehudi Menuhin was one of the early performers. Over the years the Lamp has staged many wonderful concerts at St. Mary’s. The Lamp successfully incubated the well-known Lammermuir Festival bringing the finest musicians together with local people and visitors in some of our surrounding towns and villages' most beautiful locations and buildings.

Lammermuir Festival

The Lammermuir Festival was born of a conviction that historic architecture and beautiful landscape together can create an ideal environment in which to experience great music making. The Festival was established by James Stretton, MBE,  a trustee of the Lamp. The Festival was established to bring the finest musicians together with local people and visitors. Beautiful music in beautiful places. The Lammermuir Festival is a separate organisation from the Lamp of Lothian.  For those wishing to support it and find out more, please follow the link below.

What You're Saying

When we were looking for a new home for our talking newspaper, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we were so grateful to the Lamp of Lothian, who offered us the use of a space in the Poldrate Granary, free of charge. We are able to record, copy and distribute our weekly news from there and also hold meetings by arrangement. Thank you, Lamp of Lothian!
