Lammermuir Festival

The Lamp of Lothian Trust has had a long tradition of promoting and supporting an annual series of concerts, largely in St Mary's Church, Haddington, regularly attracting internationally renowned musicians, including Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Tommy Smith, and Dame Cleo Laine, as well as home grown stars such as O Duo. The focus has long been on promoting excellence as well as encouraging young people.

As demand grew and the complexity of delivering the concerts increased it became apparent that dedicated management was required to make it sustainable. Thus the Lammermuir Festival was born with its own steering committee, a dedicated Artistic Director, support staff and host of volunteers coming together in September each year to deliver what has quickly become a renowned feature during the festival season across the country.

Beautiful Music | Beautiful Places

In 2010, the Lammermuir Festival was launched with the theme - Beautiful Music | Beautiful Places.

The now annual event features major music artists, orchestras and ensembles in a host of intriguing venues across East Lothian, including historic buildings and intimate churches.

The Lammermuir Festival is the first of its kind for this historic region whose stunning natural beauty, boasting the Lammermuir Hills on one side and spectacular cliffs and seascape on the other, has greatly influenced the programming and choice of venues.

With outstanding classical music concerts afternoon and evening in both rural and town settings, The Lammermuir Festival offers the ideal opportunity for visitors and locals to explore East Lothian and discover new places, as well as to experience world-class performances of live music.
